Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a type of alternative treatment that deals with treating the like with like. Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann, a German physician, invented the term homeopathy.

This type of treatment deals with medicine given to patients in various forms of dilution to create different strengths of potency. It is similar to conventional medicine in that it states that a diseases caused by a derangement of an organism, but is different in the sense that homeopathy says that these diseases can differ in different people and cannot be treated the same way. Physicians that practice homeopathy say that a sick person is viewed sick because of a dynamic disturbance in a force that surrounds them. This is something conventional medicine does not take into account.

Homeopathic procedures consist of firstly looking at the illness or condition and seeing the symptoms. It is then compared to The Homeopathic repertory that consists of an index of sickness symptoms, listing all remedies associated with specific symptoms.

There are over 217 remedies already available and this list keeps on expanding as more complex solutions are found to diseases that we know of now. Homeopathy tends to be fairly natural, using extracts of animals, plants and minerals to create treatments. These treatments are diluted to different strengths depending on the condition.

In earlier years, physicians were concerned at their failures of homeopathy against certain diseases and lost faith. But over time, they learned about the different treatments and new techniques of creating solutions of different potencies to specifically target the illness or condition to help heal the patient.

Homeopathy differs from conventional medicine in the sense that conventional medicine sees bacteria and viruses causes of diseases whereas homeopathy sees them as effects. It was also important to realize that homeopathic treatments helped not only the affected area, but also the whole body in general, creating positive energy in the human being.

There are many practitioners around the world that are licensed homeopathic therapists. Although homeopathy has its roots in India and other eastern countries, it is becoming more popular in western countries. More than 12,000 clinics exist in the UK, France and Germany and as popularity rises in the western world, more people will realize that there are more alternative options available.

Homeopathy spread to the USA after it rose in popularity in Europe and nowadays, it is very common to find a clinic that specializes in homeopathic treatment.
